About
Hello! I’m Xiao Wen, also known as XW. I work in the technology and Internet sector, and am currently a product manager at SEA, having previously been at Telstra. My path to this line of work has been somewhat unconventional, although my multi-disciplinary academic background—which intersects the social sciences, technology, and business—did help prepare me: I graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor’s in Sociology and double Minors in Computing and Entrepreneurship, and later completed a Master’s in Social Data Science at Oxford.
This website is home to my personal reflections and hobbyist projects, and also serves as a way for me to document and share learnings and creations. The content naturally revolves around my interests, which include technology, society and culture, and music.
To share a little of my story, my life has been shaped by several notable experiences. I spent my earliest years in Japan, but returned to Singapore aged 7 and a half, which was rather a culture shock. Later, I travelled to Myanmar every year for over a decade between 2004 to 2016 to undertake social action projects, which was an eye-opener with regard to seeing how globalization transforms a society. I am also a SSEAYP alumnus, which saw me representing Singapore and travelling around Southeast Asia and Japan on a ship, with 300+ other young people from the same region.
If you want to get in touch, write me via email or LinkedIn message! Although it might take a while to respond, I’d be happy to connect.
